Tour the ZooGuided Tours

Led by a Zoo Educator, you’ll learn about some of your favorite animals, their habitats, and behaviors, while exploring topics like endangered species, conservation efforts, and more.

Select a topic you’re most interested in, and our educator will take you through a portion of the zoo, answering your questions and sharing exciting insights. You’ll also learn how the zoo is working to protect animals and their habitats through ongoing conservation initiatives.

This tour is a great way to get a deeper understanding of the animals at the zoo and the important work being done to preserve wildlife!

TOUR TIMES:

  • Available any day of the week from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Reservations, payments, and two weeks advance notice is required.

TOUR LENGTH:

  • 30 minutes: Preschool – Early Elementary Tour
  • 60 minutes: Upper Elementary – Adult Tour

Includes up to 15 people per tour (does not include Zoo admission)

  • 30 minute tour:
    • $200 for non-profits and public schools
    • $300 for general guests
    • Can add up to 5 more guests, $5 per additional guest
  • 60 minute tour:
    • $300 for non-profits and public schools
    • $400 for general guests
    • Can add up to 10 more guests, $10 per additional guest

Guided Tours

Wildlife Wander
30 minute tour for Preschool – 2nd Grade guests

Join us on a Wildlife Wander, a guided tour designed just for young explorers! Led by an educator, this exciting adventure will take kids on a journey through the animal kingdom, where they’ll learn about animals from around the world!

Along the way, we’ll share fun animal facts, silly sounds, and exciting surprises to make learning fun. Kids will get up close (but safe!) with their favorite animals and even have a chance to ask questions.

Perfect for curious minds and tiny adventurers, the Wildlife Wander is an imagination-filled experience that will leave every child with a big smile and a heart full of wonder!

Habitat & Hideaway Hike
60 minute tour for 3rd grade – adult guests

Join us on the Habitats & Hideaway Hike, a guided tour through abortion of our Zoo guests will explore the unique places that animals call home!

On this interactive journey, we’ll explore a variety of habitats, discovering how animals adapt to extreme conditions. We’ll uncover the four essential survival needs—food, water, shelter, and space—and how different species meet these requirements in their unique environments. Along the way, we’ll also examine the fascinating strategies animals use to stay safe and find food, including camouflage, migration, and hibernation.

Led by an educator, this tour will allow guests to think critically about ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation efforts that help protect wildlife and wild places.

Critters and Conservation Tour
60 minute tour for 3rd grade – adult guests

Wildlife is all around us, no matter where we live. The Maryland Zoo is dedicated to saving wildlife and protecting wild places through its ongoing conservation efforts. Join us on the Critters & Conservation Tour to learn how the zoo is making a difference!

On this guided tour, educators will introduce you to the zoo’s signature animal programs, where you’ll discover how the zoo supports endangered species, restores habitats, and helps animals thrive both here and in the wild. From hands-on conservation efforts to innovative programs, you’ll see how the Maryland Zoo is paving the way for a brighter future for wildlife.

Important Tour Guidelines & Information

  • Booking and payment are required at least 2 weeks in advance of the tour date.
  • Tours are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. School groups must follow 8 children: 1 adult chaperone ratio.
  • Tours are weather, staff, and animal dependent. The Zoo reserves the right to cancel a tour or end a tour for any reason.
  • Once purchased, tour tickets cannot be returned or refunded. Tours are non-transferrable and tickets cannot be used on a different tour day.
  • Tours do not include Zoo admission. If you’re not a Zoo member you’ll need to purchase admission tickets on or before the day of visit.
