Work on the Zoo’s new African Penguin exhibit continues to move quickly. The Whiting-Turner construction team has made significant progress in the last few weeks laying the foundation for the first of three buildings to be part of the finished exhibit. This first building, the Penguin Interpretive Center, will feature a large indoor space for underwater penguin viewing. It will also include a classroom with a learning lab for education programs and in-depth wildlife learning experiences.

You’ll see in this most recent time lapse video the beginnings of foundation walls for this first new exhibit space. In the coming weeks, the digging will continue to two additional building foundations, including the new Penguin Animal Embassy and Bait Shack.
