We are tickled pink to announce on September 27th the Zoo’s Flamingos will get a new home neighboring the new Penguin Coast exhibit. These brightly-colored beauties have been out of the public eye, in the Zoo’s Main Valley, for some time now, but construction on Penguin Coast gave the Zoo a perfect opportunity to make a new space for them to be exhibited.
The flock of thirteen birds will debut on the African Boardwalk, at the same time as the opening of the Penguin Coast exhibit. Of course, in the wild you would not find Caribbean flamingos in Africa, but at the Zoo, this is where our flock has landed. The Zoo has a long and successful history with Caribbean flamingos that predates our organization into geographic zones.
