Mild September weather, amazing animals, and three family-friendly events … that’s what’s on tap for this weekend at the Maryland Zoo. All three events are FREE with Zoo admission or membership.

Musical Petting Zoo

This Saturday, the Baltimore Gamer Orchestra is back with their Musical Petting Zoo for the second year. Not to be confused with an animal petting zoo, this experience is a chance to touch, play and learn about musical instruments.

Wild About Rhinos Day

Sure, they look a bit like unicorns, but rhinos DO NOT have magical powers. Still, about three rhinos are killed by poachers every day for their horns – made of keratin, the same material as your hair and nails – because some people believe they have medicinal value. This Sunday, we’re celebrating all things rhino and encouraging you to stand with us against rhino poaching. There’s a full schedule of fun and educational activities, including trivia with the chance to win a footprint made by our rhino Stubby!

Trucks for Tots

We know kids love the Zoo and kids love trucks, so we’re bringing you an event with both! Big trucks will be taking over part of the Zoo this Sunday. Guests can touch, sit in and take photos with trucks, buses, and other vehicles.
