Episode #28
It’s no surprise you can visit the Zoo, but did you know the Zoo can come to you? Animal outreach has been an important part of the Zoo’s mission for much of its 140 year history. Connecting people to wildlife in their own communities is something the Maryland Zoo (and many other accredited zoos) are deeply committed to. On this episode of Off Exhibit, we go inside the Zoo’s extensive outreach effort with Katie Manion, Assistant Director of Education & Interpretation. Learn about the animals and the handlers who are part of programs and what kind of work happens behind-the-scenes to plan and prepare for them. Plus, discover the meaningful connections helping inspire people near and far to become animal advocates and to save species.
