BALTIMORE, MD – This year The Maryland Zoo will light up the town with a colorful evening display of holiday Zoo Lights from Friday, November 20, 2020, through Sunday, January 3, 2021. This seven-week event will bring twinkling lights and holiday flare in the shape of many of your favorite zoo animals to the Zoo. More than 50 light displays with 100,000 environmentally friendly LED lights will transform the Zoo into a sparkling winter wonderland!
“This is a new twist on an event that hasn’t been held here at the Zoo for many, many years,” stated Kirby Fowler, president & CEO of the Zoo. “We are very excited to bring Zoo Lights back to the Baltimore community, offering separate evenings to walk or drive through the holiday light displays here on grounds. We are very grateful to Weis Markets for their support of this event which hopefully will become a holiday tradition.”
Zoo Lights is a seasonal spectacle after-hours event that will run Wednesday-Sunday from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm, with extended hours on the weekend. The experience begins at Eagle Gate and proceeds down Buffalo Yard Road as guests follow a beautifully lit winding path past dazzling displays including some favorite animals reimagined as light sculptures. Guests can walk the event on foot every Saturday from 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm or experience Zoo Lights from the comfort of their car Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Tickets are $45 for the drive-thru experience and $20 for the walk-thru experience; advanced timed ticket purchase is required. Members receive a $5 discount on each ticket purchased. Zoo Lights will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

“We know people want to find ways to experience new things in spite of COVID, so we hope that everyone will enjoy the opportunity to share Zoo Lights with family and friends in the evening, while supporting the Zoo at the same time,” Fowler added.
